Channel 4 3D week in conjuction with Youtube

I love 3D and this has got me inspired! Channel 4 are running a competition asking aspiring directors to submit 3D clips onto Youtube which, if good enough, could be shown on the channel itself!

Read all about it here:

The deadline is 8th November so we best be cracking! I've got an idea though and I'm looking to collaborate with fellow chums Grant and Neil who are illustrators. Should be fun!

Oh plus... For all your 3D info needs regarding motion pictures, games and other media check out MarketSaw!

I've been meaning to do a post about 3D ever since I started this blog! I suppose the next one will come with the new Avatar trailer. ;)

Josh out.

you are part of a legacy

Here's a bit of a taster from my recent project 'Pitch' where we had to come up with a campaign that stretched across 4 billboards.

The company I was allocated was Nike and I chose to follow the line of their inspirational and motivating slogans. My idea was based around the consumer feeling apart of the brand and to create a strong sense of connection.

I came up with 'you are part of a legacy' amongst other slogan's and used the custom typeface I created for the project to hint at the connections visually. The coloured and overlayed elements were used to show the momentum and potential energy that the consumer will have by using Nike's products.

I'm only showing one of the proposed billboards for now as there are a few tweaks I'll be doing to the work. Hope you like what you see so far!

six degrees of..... crap there's a deadline tomorrow!

I'm at uni right now trying to tie all the ends of my project and complete the work ready for the crit tomorrow. However, I've hit a slight brick wall and feel I need to take some time out.

So, I've taken a few snaps of what I've been doing in my sketchbook. There's a few experiments in there to see how I can make the whole thing work visually and there's also a glimpse of the typeface I've made for this project. Oh, and I took a picture of my studio space because I thought you'd like to know.

Enjoy.

type experiments for 'alienation' video

Just some more teaser stuff and examples of my working process from my recent summer project for university. I was using the hexagon shape throughout to hint to the connection between people and the six degrees of separation theory.

The video is a comment on how people shouldn't forget what it's like to be outside and how to communicate and interact socially. People should not just stay glued to their iPhone's, Blackberry's and laptop's, checking their Facebook pages all day.

Also, I've completed the video now, and I'll be posting soon but I need to add some sound. I think I might write some music for it, could be fun and a nice challenge.

In other news, I started uni again on Monday and I've been given my first brief. It's called 'Pitch' and we have to do a pitch for 4 billboard designs based on a marketing campaign we've developed from a brand that's been allocated to us.

I was given Nike, so I'm pretty happy with that. Following on from my summer project, which the brief asks, I am pursuing the idea and theory of the 'six degrees of separation.' It's going well so far and I shall be keeping you posted!

scintillation

Made from 35,000 photographs and using a mixture of stop motion and live projection mapping techniques.

I'll let the images speak for themselves, really quite beautiful.
