Put it on a postcard

Kat has been organising a Sauce Collective mail out pack to promote our degree show which is very cool of her. We have 3 each. This will be one of mine.

I'm having a lot of fun with my animation now that the backdrop is sorted and I have some decent lighting. This is mainly down to Kat's expertise with studio lighting, so thanks Kat!

Here's a few test shots/screen grabs from what I've been doing recently. I'm still doing stuff based around the book you see in the images but I tested some of the type model stuff just so I can get a taster of what it'll look like. I'm really happy with the results, I think it's going to look great in 'proper' 3D (none of this anaglyph nonsense!).

Car Boot

We've been going to the big car boot sale in a car park somewhere in Winchester recently (still have no idea what most of the places are called here!). I haven't really been buying much but I've been taking photos of things that are catching my eye instead. Mainly book covers & pieces of type that I like. Thought I'd share a few with you guys. My favourite is probably the book about military vehicles. Two colours, simple type and simple illustrations.

The Rig!

I've finally got my 3D slider rig sorted after mucking about with DIY solutions for a number of weeks. I wish I'd got this sooner but I have to thank Victoria for suggesting to look online again.

Most of the rigs I had come across were pretty expensive so I was a bit put off but with further research and looking on ebay I found this thing called a 'macro slider' which works a treat! Does the perfect job for what I need. It comes with 2 rulers on each slider too which is perfect. That way I'll no exactly what my interocular distance will be. I'm actually so thrilled to finally have this. I can't wait to get started now!

It was pretty cheap too (about 35 quid) and I got it from a company called 'Suntek'. Check the product out here  if you're interested in buying one!

Pride and joy.

Hey guys! I'm having a lot of fun with these at the moment and gearing up to starting my animation.. tomorrow hopefully! I'll keep you updated with how that's going no doubt but for now here's some more type sculpture stuff for you to check out. Hope you like them.

...have been up and down recently. I feel I've progressed quite a bit over the last 4 weeks but it's been difficult and I probably could have done more had I not had to deal with few a technical hiccups and personal issues. That's life I suppose.

I'm not in the most ideal situation right now, i.e. nothing is animated yet, but I don't like to rush. The point is, I'm not actually in the position where I'm be able to animate anything yet anyway & I'm not going to do some just for the hell of it to please someone else. I'm almost at the stage where I can start and that's fine by me.

Here's some things that I've been doing recently. It's all preparation work at the moment but I'm really excited to see these things come to life!
