Sometimes I do rough camera animations to test a camera move before committing to the final shot. I only animate the camera's movement and leave all the bits in the frame static. It's come in handy a lot as I can just drop it into the working edit quickly and see how it'll flow. It's something that's become a key part in the shooting process for me since trying it first in my Stephen King animation.
Here's an example of one of those camera animations. I didn't go for this shot in the end but it gave me an idea for one coming up so it was useful. The shot could be a little more straight too but I was impressed with the versatility of my tripod! Mini crane shot!
